Good Morning Raleigh! Happy Friday. It’s a long Memorial Day weekend for most of us and there is a ton to do. First, some general housekeeping.

• Our Instagram page is active again! We will be posting more often going forward so please give us a follow over there — Instagram link here.

• We will be taking Memorial Day off on Monday for the email send, so expect the next updates to come on Wednesday or via our social media above.

• Starting in June, members will start receiving a members-only newsletter! The final details of this are still being worked out (expect full details on this next week) but my hope is that this will provide some more value for our readers as we continue to grow.

• The Night Market at North Hills is back tomorrow from 3-8PM featuring over 30 vendors! See more details at the linked event here.

• The NC Sugar Rush takes places this Sunday at 12PM in Raleigh City Plaza, featuring an all dessert food rodeo, live performances, games, and more — more info here.

• Oak City Salsa is back with their monthly social! Featuring free lessons and music, the event will be hosted at Transfer Food Co with the first event on June 4th — more below:

• The Day Party, a DJ dance party takes place Sunday at 1PM. The location has moved from Junction West to Willco instead — see the event here.

• Speaking of Willco (an Oakwood cocktail bar), they have their 10th anniversary party at 5PM on the 29th (next Thursday). They will have a mariachi band, special merch, vendors, and drinks all night — click for details.

• Moto & Music @ Moon Room celebrates motorcycle culture, live music, food and drinks, and vendors. The event takes place tomorrow from 3-8PM — more here.

• Six Forks Cinema is hosting an 80s & 90s Memorial Day Car Meet and Movie Night! Admission is $11 and starts at 5PM on Sunday, flyer below and Facebook event here:

• Did you know that Raleigh has a Beer Trail Passport? Earn points for visiting over 40 breweries and use those to redeem a beer hugger, bottle opener, and t shirt! — see details here (and see if you can knock out a few over Memorial Day).

• NC States TheatreFEST begins next Thursday, May 29th running through June 22nd, featuring multiple shows and events open to the public. See the full list of events at the link here on their site.

• Protect Our Park! On May 31st at 3PM, come out to save Lake Crabtree Park with TORC and the Umstead Coalition! Come picnic, hike, bike, run on the trails and celebrate the park with others — For more info & updates visit protectourparknc.org.

NC FC: The FC have their next game away on the 31st.

NC Courage: The Courage play THIS Sunday in San Diego at 10PM, vs the SD Wave.

NCSU: The ACC Baseball tournament began last night for the Wolfpack, playing Clemson in the single-elimination format. It also ended with a 6-7 loss to the Tigers in a pretty close game. The pack will look to make another run in the NCAA tournament soon, with the selection show starting Monday.

Hurricanes: Last night the Canes took on the Panthers again in Game 2 at Home and frankly it went about as bad as it could, losing 0-5 and taking our second loss on home ice. We play again in the first away game of the series tomorrow at 8PM.

Raleigh is cool but so are our neighbors.

• Midway (area around Local 506 in Chapel Hill) is having their JAWSfest summer event Sunday at 12PM, they will have a mechanical shark, a screening the JAWS movie, a dunk tank, local surf themed art, & more — details here.

• The Carrboro Bluegrass Festival is tomorrow! Join 10+ bands at Cats Cradle at 2PM tomorrow for a few hours of folk, americana, and traditional bluegrass — tickets start at just $37 dollars for the full event:

• Carolina Indie Fest, a FREE two day music festival takes place tonight at 5PM and tomorrow at 2PM in Sanford. This event is family friendly, bring a chair! — more here.

• The Durham Underground Market is this Sunday from 11-3PM at Durham Central Park. Music starts at 12:30PM and the event as a whole goes through 3PM — click for info.

• Mitch’s Tavern will reopen on June 3rd after having to close down for plumbing repairs, be sure to go give them some company once they reopen their doors — info here.

• Just a reminder that most govt offices, including the City of Raleigh will be closed May 26th for Memorial Day — trash and recycle should be unaffected but buses will be on their Sunday schedule on Monday as well.

• Carolina Furniture Direct on Glenwood is closing after 41 years. They are offering a liquidation sale that started yesterday with merchandise up to 50% off — read their press release here.
