Round 2 in Raleighwood, Last Call for Jazz, & New Festivals! - November 12th

Good Morning Raleigh! Hope you’ve been handling the cold okay, my heat finally came on this week for the first time this year.

A few exciting updates before we start:

• Dinner Club was a success! For our first event we had nearly 50 people make it out. The best part? We’ve taken your feedback to make it even better this time and were doing it again in just 3 weeks.

Wednesday 12th

• NC State Men’s Basketball takes on UNCG tomorrow at 8PM here at home — tickets seem to only be on seatgeek at the time of writing, linked here.

• Looking for another Open Mic Comedy? Goodnights recently launched their event Wednesdays at 7:30PM. 15+ local comics for just $5 — tickets here.

Thursday 13th

• Dear Diary… an open mic event at Bitter Social aims to get all your best classroom notes, middle school journals, and high school poetry into the light of day — free event, takes place at 7:30PM, bring your diary.

• It’s Pokemon Night! Come out Sneaky Penguin at 6PM for a night of collecting, battling, and great drinks — facebook event here for more details.

Saturday 15th

• We covered this in our monthly newsletter as well but Art Bash 2025 takes place downtown at Artspace from 6-10PM — details here.

• Come check out the Canes as they take on Connor McDavid and the Oilers at home in the Lenovo Center at 7PM Saturday — tickets here.

• Also, the NC Chinese Lantern Festival is back this week — check it out here!

Sunday 16th

• Live music, local vendors, food trucks, and more! The Vintage + Vinyl Market at the Hartwell returns this weekend from 2-4 on Sunday — info here.

• The Triangle Wind Ensemble will play a set featuring songs from Spartacus to the Lord of the Rings for their 25th Anniversary — starts at 4PM over in the Cary Arts Center.

• The MAKRS have their Raleigh Foodie Fare from 11-3PM in Moore Square — info.

• The monthly International Jazz Open Jam has it’s last of the season on Tuesday at Neptunes! 8PM to midnight in the underground dive bar turned jazz lounge (for the evening), see the flyer down below:

Raleighwood Updates

• The members only article will be out soon, hoping to have it finished for the 16th this month as I am writing a guide on simply… supporting local and how you can actually do it here in Raleigh.

Openings & Builds

• The new Benchwarmers Bagels over in Rockway (near Dix Park) opened up last wee — their page listed here.

• Ole Sports Bar and Lounge also opened up over South West St — see them here.

• Godfather’s Pizza (yes, you read that right) makes it’s first return to Raleigh in nearly 40 years as the chain is still kicking — see the ABC article on it here.

Local Sports

• The Canes fell last night against the Capitals at home after coming off a 4 game win streak, they sit in the top 5 still in the league going their next game Friday (11-5-0).

• NC FC were knocked out in the semifinals of the USL conference, this brings their season to an end and the future of the team into question, given the recent news about their pitch for a higher league and suspending operations.

Thanks for reading everyone. Events felt a tad slower this week as we trend towards Thanksgiving. Maybe take some time to wind down and de-stress as you make you way into the weekend.

We had some feedback last week to lean a bit more Art & Culture when possible, not a ton this week but will keep that in mind going forward.
