Artist of The Week - prettyaveragephotography
This week’s artist is Zachary Gunty, of prettyaveragephotography, a Raleigh based Photographer & Videographer! Recent shots on his Instagram showcase the Moore Square skate event and some pretty stunning view of Chicago. Check him out below:
Show of The Week - Curtis Eller | July 11th @ Slim’s
Frankly, his bio sums it up the best, so I will let it do the talking:
“Curtis Eller is a banjo player, songwriter, dancer, and storyteller. The beloved show business veteran started his career at the age of seven as a juggler and acrobat, but has since turned to the banjo because that's where the money is.”
He play’s in Raleigh this Friday, get your tickets at the link here on his website.

Openings & Builds
• Unfortunately this week, less focus on builds and more of a warning to be mindful of flood damage, particularly in and around Durham and Chapel Hill. The Eno river this week surpassed water level records previously set by Fran — avoid travel if possible.
City Council & Civics
• Downtown Raleigh is working on a Mobility Study, focusing on biking and walking around town — a penny for your walk-ability thoughts? Study Link.
Local Sports News
• The Carolina Hurricanes had a GREAT offseason so far, signing one of the biggest names available (and they still have more room to grow) — Danish fans here.
• The FC fell to the Charleston Battery 0-1 on Sunday, they play next this Friday at home against Birmingham Legion FC.

Local Facts, History, Tidbits, & Closing Thoughts
Local History
I went on a bit of a rabbit hole looking at cool things to write about this week and settled on one of NCSU’s hallowed spaces for this week (and it’s neighbors).
Completed in 1949, the Reynolds Coliseum has been a staple of NC State’s campus for decades but did you know that it didn’t even have air conditioning until 2016? 1 All those years of history, 67 to be exact, had been quite muggy ones it seems.
As I was researching, I was actually looking for more info on the old football field nearby, Riddick Stadium, which sits right where the current SAS building and parking lot currently are…
If you actually walk by this area on campus, there is a small placard overlooking the lot memorializing the location, near the treeline over the parking lot.

Riddick Stadium
What really made me want to share this was seeing the before and afters, seen above is Riddick Stadium, the background being where the Coliseum Parking Deck sits today.
(Check out this link for a baseball game photo being played in the same filed as above).

Anyway, that’s my interesting tidbit to share for the day. Really enjoy looking through archives and finding cool stuff like this. Hope you enjoyed and see you next week!
