It's Gonna Be May! - Apr. 30th

It just feels right to use a joke that only works once a year, don't you think?

Good morning Raleigh! Hope you’re having a good Wednesday.

Don’t forget what tomorrow is! If you have queue up the Justin Timberlake as we get… NSYNC with all of these midweek events.

(I swear I will stop making these jokes whenever you all stop telling me you like them).

If you know, you know.

• Starting off strong with our first May event, it’s First Friday! As always you can find happenings all around town but the Moore Square and Warehouse Districts tend to be the hot spots — see a list of ALL the events on the official page here.

• May is National Bike Month! Together with Oak City Cycling, look for the First Friday event to host a Bike Parade through downtown around 6PM — their Instagram here.

• Copperline Plant Co is offering Plant Portraits at First Friday — read more here about how you can sign up and get that new profile plant based picture you’ve always wanted.

• The Juniper Level Botanical Garden is back open for one of only 9 weekends per year, with THREE of those happening in May — check out their maps and schedule here.

• Triangle Pop-up Market has their NCMA event Saturday, from 11-4PM — more here.

Fiction Kitchen, the plant based restaurant that recently relocated to Crabtree Blvd, is aiming to announce their re-opening in Mid May — we’ll keep you updated.

• The Gipson Play Plaza at Dorothea Dix Park has an official opening date of June 6-8th, where they will hold their ribbon cutting and two day community event with family activities, food trucks, live music, and more.

• Think you have the skill to judge a poet? Tickets are sold out this week already but sign up at their email for June for access to the next Poetry Slam event, where you may be selected to be a judge! — events page here.

• We mentioned Cuya Cocina Latina recently but they have officially opened up on Glenwood as of this week — check out their page for more info.

• Into Sewing, Quilting or Embroidery? Check out experts in the industry and take some classes from professionals at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo tomorrow through Saturday at the Raleigh Convention Center — more info here.

Free events first, then organized by time, for each day.

Just a note, that I am going to start linking to the venue event page vs the direct ticket site as many of the ticket sites aren’t directly local and frankly I think some of these sites are just pretty cool and well made.

The ramblings of your author, apologies in advance.

I wrote everything today except the score of the Canes game and my last thoughts… before the game.

Now here I am at near midnight, after the game, both exhausted and ecstatic, sleepy yet caffeinated, and trying to stay coherent enough to write the final touches to the newsletter on another fine Tuesday night in… Raleighwood.

Now, time for some much needed rest (and apologies to my neighbors for the screaming at that OT winner a few minutes ago).

See you folks on Friday!
