Is it "NC" enough? Let's Find Out! - May 14th
It’s been a rainy couple of days but things are starting to pick back up with local sports, fairground events, grand openings and more. Read more below!
Happy Wednesday folks!
I am running behind today, as I was out getting the best events for you last night! (aka I stayed up to midnight after a Red Hat Show) so let’s just get into it. Hope you’ve had your caffeine for the day by now!

If you know, you know.
• The Got to be NC Festival is this weekend at the NC State Fairgrounds! This FREE, mini state fair like event, features carnival rides, independent vendors, and NC food and wine! If that’s not enough to get you out, I’m not sure what is — more info on the event here.
• Another Saturday event is going on at Trophy Maywood, this time with their Raleigh Pop-up market! They will have local art & vintage, coffee, bounce houses & more.
• Lucky Tree’s new location at Moore Square opens this Saturday! From 4-8PM join them for live music, free samples, and collab art — see the new venue sneek peek below:
• Every third Thursday of the month join Unlikely Professionals for Tarot & Toast, a tarot card reading an wine tasting event starting at 6PM — event page here.
• Life After 5 is almost back! Next Wednesday bring a chair (or stand and dance) at City Plaza downtown for the FREE live music event — view the full lineup here.
• It’s been Bike Month but tomorrow is DRA’s Bike to Work Day! Find a Bike to Work Pitstop on this custom google map if you’re planning on partaking — map here.
• Also tomorrow, DRA is hosting a FREE mini-golf round at Raleigh Beer Garden from 6-8PM for the first 100 people that show up — see more here.
• Campo Taco, a new Mexican restaurant, is heading for the new Rockway apartments on S. Saunders Street, and aims to open in Fall 2025. They will be located next to a Benchwarmers Bagels and hope for traffic from Dix Park — see the spot below.

• Ken Burns, the documentary filmmaker (The Civil War, Baseball, etc.) is hosting a night at Martin Marietta with PBS on The American Revolution and will include a panel discussion the time period — history buffs can get tickets here.
• Speaking of history, join for a FREE Lunchbox Lecture every 3rd Thursday of the month at 12PM in the CoR (City of Raleigh) Museum, this weeks lecture is on the historic red-light district of the city in the early 1900s — see the event here.

• NCSU: Men’s Soccer has just revealed their Fall 2025 schedule, with their first home game being August 21 and their first conference game against UNC, only September 5th — click for the full schedule.
• NC FC: Just a reminder that the FC play Friday at 7PM against the Oakland Roots, home at WakeMed Soccer Park.
• NC Courage: And the Courage play Saturday at 5PM against the Chicago Red Stars, also at home.

• hurricanes: the canes took a 3-1 series lead over the caps monday night with a 5-2 win. they play again tomorrow night with a chance to close out the series at 7PM, this game being away in washington.

Raleigh is cool but so are our neighbors.
• Fable Books + Cafe will bring a new independent bookstore and coffee shop to Holly Springs, aiming for a summer 2025 opening. The shop plans a mix of new and used books, plus events and a full coffee menu — more here.
• Astronomy on Tap returns on tonight at Durty Bull in Durham, promising drinks, cosmic talks (this one about black hole research), and astronomy trivia starting at 7PM — click to learn more.
• The Really Terrible Orchestra of the Triangle (yes, that is their name) has a show tonight at the Cary Arts Center. Featuring a somewhat humorous event of amateur musicians, auditions only require you to read music while breathing — click for tickets.

• A proposed bill (which has only needs a House floor vote now) would give drivers in NC a two-year break between required driver’s license renewals, bringing the interval to 10 years for most adults and taking some pressure of the DMV currently — info here.
• Big Ed’s will reopen TODAY after the unfortunate police investigation this past weekend at their North location — see their announcement here.
