We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Raleigh Social Circle! This aligns with part of our goal to bring Inbox to IRL, so we’re looking forward to some great things.

Upcoming & Ongoing!

As we go into the last few weeks of August, just a reminder that the Monthly newsletter we sent at the start of it still covers a lot of the upcoming events — check it out here if you’re new and stay tuned on the 31st for the September Edition.

• Through October 5th, check out DRA’s newest interactive art installation with a focus on the Raleigh music scene! There’s a banjo, boombox, guitar, and microphone that will all play music from the upcoming events and festivals, see the post below:

• Patrizia Ferreira, a local artist is looking for help on a public art piece that requires weaving plastic bags together to make rope. Two workshops will take place and they need as many hands as possible — help them out here.

• It’s a ways off but Art Moto Fest is returning to downtown in October, this time with the Raleigh Police Bike Unit joining — see some photos of them here.

• College Football Season is SO CLOSE to being back, the first game for NCSU will be the 28th at 7PM — retail tickets sold out but NCSU recommends checking seat geek.

Wednesday - 20th

• It’s the last week for Live After 5, catch (personal favorites of mine) the Chatham Rabbits & Jack The Radio, along with some food and drink at 6-9PM in City Plaza — info.

• Coffee & Crochet, bring your favorite craft and get a drink discount over at Blackbird Books & Coffee, from 4-7PM, every Wednesday — details.

Thursday - 21st

• Raleigh Social Circle hosts their Upscale Social event at Westwood Lounge at 8PM, with hiking, pickle-ball, and book clubs upcoming on their calendar — see the full list.

• Premiering at 9:30PM, PBS NC showcases a documentary on The Great Cover Up, a 15 year ongoing community event full of tribute music performances, taking place at KINGS downtown — check it out online or see the screening in person, next week.

• Writers Round Raleigh, an intimate emerging local artists showcase, has a live show at 7:30-9:30PM at Level 7 Rooftop Bar in North Hills — check out the artists here.

• Jazz in the Square returns at 6PM in Moore Square! Live music, good vibes with the Moon Unit on stage and food trucks and vendors around the park — more here.

• Starting at 7:30PM, Third Thursday Comedy Night at Sneaky Penguin is here! Enjoy a lineup of 5-10 comedians and sip on some beer from the brewery — laughs and beer.

• Slim’s Dive Bar 🎸 Jack Stepanian [blues/rock] 9PM - FREE

Friday - 22nd

• Starting early at 9AM, Coffee & Conversations at A Place at The Table, is hosting a suitability talk with The Great Raleigh Cleanup and the City’s Office of Sustainability — limited space if you’d like to listen in, info here.

• Just 15 minutes south of downtown, another NASCAR Regional takes place at Wake County Speedway, tickets start at just $5 for this bullring event — start yer engines.

• The NC Courage tied Portland last week, they play away this week in Chicago — check out their schedule as the tail end of the season gets underway.

• Greenway Beer & Wine / Raleigh 🪩 Infinite Funk [dj/vinyl] 6PM - FREE

Saturday - 23rd

• The North Hills Night Market is back! Running from 4-9PM, the event has 30+ vendors, food trucks, mead sipping, and more — check out Midtown Park for more.

• Iris Coffee is hosting a Matcha Pop-Up right outside of their location downtown at 11AM, last time they had a huge turnout so they are prepping for similar this time, see more here and view the last event below:

• Just outside of Raleigh, the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts festival is taking place over in Cary! From 9-5 (all weekend), check out over 250 artists, 4 stages, and more — details.

Openings & Builds

• Early phases for a Graduate Hotel, a college themed hotel owned by Hilton, are taking shape near NCSU (UNC has one already). Axios says the lot near Players Retreat is being eyed for development — more info on the possible new hotel.

City Council & Civics

• NC State Parks is hiring a State Trails Planner to help guide the development of 15 trails across the state, position open through the 28th — details here.

• As someone who has some issues with the parking downtown before (looking at you private parking companies), DRA recently put out a nice map and video of the decks downtown that are free for at least 2 hours, check it out below:
