☀️ A Little About The Inbox! - June 9th
In a few words, we've got a few early week events and an intro of who we are and what we do, for all the new readers as of late (and those who were still curious).
Happy Monday Raleigh! A while back I wrote a post called A Little About YOU!, which is still one of the best received things we’ve shared.
Frankly, It’s a little slow on events to start the week (aka rest up while you can), so I thought it was time to do A Little About ME… err, US, or rather the Inbox as a whole.
But first…
…Welcome!
I wanted to start off saying hello to all the new readers, we’ve had an influx of people joining us and we are almost at our first big milestone of 1000 readers.
As we really only started our socials / sharing the newsletter around 3-4 months ago, I’ve been super excited about the growth in such a short time and I am working on ways to turn this into much more than a newsletter (ideally a community of sorts).
With that, I thought I want to do some updates on the state of things as of today. I’ve scattered these sections through the newsletter to read as you make your way!
There are THREE sections marked with a ☀️ on each (for summer, duh). Let’s dig in.

Curated updates on the best of Raleigh this week.
June 9th - Today
• Lucky Tree is back with their bi-monthly Free the Mic (Open Mic) Event. Each event, join 30+ Artists, get henna tattoos, and shop the store — details below:
• The Clockwork x Sneaky Fox Closing Party is Today after the multiple days of Soccer in the area with the TST 7v7 ending today as well! They have 4 DJ’s slated for the evening, a promised invite-only after-party, and fundraising benefits — details here.
My name is Mason and I run The Raleighwood Inbox.
I was born and raised in / around Raleigh, living in Florida during my college years, only to move back to the place I grew up in around 5 years ago. I did a short time in Wilmington as well (psst, check out the Wilmy Weekly).
My motivation for starting this was built on my desire for community and my interest in local events, development, music, and frankly anything new and exciting.
I ran with this interest by hosting my own Meetup Events through 2021-2024 and earlier this year The Raleighwood Inbox was born out of an attempt to connect more people with the cool things this area has to offer.
This entire thing has been me trying to join those worlds of newsletter & community space, using my skills in tech, writing, and design.

What We’re Working On - 2 of 3 ☀️
• In Person Events: With an 85% in favor rating for events (poll from last newsletter), I think this one deserves to go forward.
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜️ Please do, in-person events are the best
🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ No way buddy, stick to the newsletter
The goal here is curated events, renting a private space or experience, and creating an in-person forum to launch ideas and connections with or just to chill out and enjoy meeting new people. We can take this any way that works out really.
• Discount Cards: I am still working on the full list of vendors but we are building out a local discount deal bundle, aka handpicked places in different categories (think brewery, coffee shop, art store, etc.) that all offer a discount at a set (affordable) price.
In a survey from few weeks ago, nearly 40% of you said you were interested in discounts, so this is a direct effort from that feedback.
More to come on that very soon.
• Merch: Frankly, this is a bit of a passion project. We had an small/medium portion of our readers ask for merchandise (hats, shirts, etc) and I just enjoy designing things — that shop went live last week at shop.theraleighwoodinbox.com.
Seasonal Designs are only up for the Summer, so get them while you can!
• Giveaways: Starting this month, we will be doing giveaways for a variety of different places and events, with some of these taking place on our Instagram page — check us out here.
As one of the perks for our paid readers, each of you will get 3x the raffle entries for each event for as long as you’re an active Supporter of The Inbox.
• And Much More: This category is a bit of cop-out but we’ve got a ton of ideas and partnerships brewing, but the ones above are the ones moving at a good enough pace to start sharing. AKA, stay tuned for more.

Non-profits, Help a Neighbor, Jobs, & More.

NCSU, Hurricanes, NC FC & Courage, & More.
The NCAA settlement in House v. NCAA has reached a major point, officially allowing back-pay, revenue sharing, and profit sharing for the 2025-26 school year and beyond — this change will increase the budget at schools like NCSU, UNC, etc.

The Courage played yesterday against Washington, up in DC. They fell 1-3, leaving them near bottom of the league. They aim to pick things back up this Saturday as well.

Long Term Goals - 3 of 3 ☀️
To wrap things up, I want to create more community in Raleigh, have that be the foundation for new ideas and partnerships, then cultivate that into a local first way of thinking that brings everything (within reason) back to the neighborhood level.
I don’t know what that all looks like yet but I am aiming high.
In my head, I picture a bar/music venue social Third Space, curated community meetups, and genuinely good resources to both find the best of Raleigh and maybe share ways we can all work towards that goal together.
Even better if we can make this happen elsewhere too… but change starts small.
However, only time will tell (and hopefully you all will tell me what you’re looking for as well) as this is certainly not something I can startup by myself.

The ramblings of your Author, apologies in advance.
Anyway, enough rambling today, I know this was an abnormal newsletter but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.
See you Wednesday for a return to form with more events and updates!
