Rough Weekend for NCSU - Mar. 10th
Perhaps the biggest local news, right in the headline today. Light on music today but the local updates are flowing in this week as people get moving into March.

• 42nd St. Oyster Bar is closing its doors at the end of March. The grocery store turned restaurant has been around since 1931 - read more via WRAL here.
• This upcoming Saturday, March 15th The Great Raleigh Cleanup is hosting an event to recycle old electronics, batteries and other “hard to recycle” items at Mordecai Brewing from 12-4PM - More info here.
• Spring Break is here! …if you’re an NCSU student and it lasts through the week, so expect campus to be a bit slower this week.
• SimonsSaysDipThis has opened their first Raleigh location in Bloc 83 next to YogaSix, the offer dipped ice cream, stuffed cookies, and freeze-dried candy - more here.
• Raleigh Wide Open, the bluegrass festival replacing IBMA, is in search of vendors to line the streets in October - if interested, contact them and apply here.
• The Martin Marietta Center is set to undergo renovations to it’s entrance space adding a new green area, wheelchair ramps, and a drop-off lane to the venue.

• Yoga @ Dix Park is back, every Monday from 6-7PM. The event is free to attend but registration is required at the link here.
• The Durham Bulls welcome in Champ, the brother of the late Ripken to be the teams official bat dog for the 2025 season.

• NCSU has fired coach Kevin Keatts, who led the Men’s Basketball team to the Final Four last year. They lost their final game against Miami after blowing a double-digit lead to lose 72-70, making them 1 of only 3 teams to lose every away game this season.
• NCSU Women’s Basketball played #3 Duke in the Finals of the ACC tournament, losing out in the 2nd half 76-62 after a double digit lead in the first. Duke takes their first win since 2013, both teams will play in the NCAA tournament.
• NCSU Softball plays ECU & Notre Dame at home through the weekend, their first game kicks of at 6PM on Tuesday. NCSU Baseball will play NC&T next door at the same time.
• The Carolina Hurricanes traded Mikko Rantanen after a poor showing of 6 points in 13 games. He moves to the Dallas Stars, in return we receive Logan Stankoven and two 1st round picks. Mark Jankowski from Nashville also joins us, in return for a 5th round pick.
• The PWHL Frost beat out the Charge in the Takeover Tour at Lenovo Center on Friday, winning 5-0, Canes players Seth Jarvis & Jesperi Kotkaniemi sounded the siren to start.
• NC FC Soccer kicked off its season with a 1-1 tie, giving them a point for their first home game of the season. Evan Conway scores the teams only goal.

Last Thoughts
If you can’t tell from my writing about the Carolina Hurricanes, I am quite the Caniac. So naturally, I got a good chuckle out of The Rialto Theatre chiming in about the performance we got from Mikko in one of the best ways possible. See you Wednesday!
