Show of The Week @ KINGS w/ Cinema Stereo

Cinema Stereo is a new (and quite legit) rock band coming out of Nashville. Was given the heads up about the show and had to give a shout out as they strike a great balance of nostalgic rock with a clean modern sound.

Great venue, great lineup, Pageant is even from High Point, NC as well.

Wednesday - 10th

• Coffee & Crochet is a weekly craft time at Blackbird Books & Coffee, bring any craft project and get a discount on your drink — details on their site.

• Each week through October, join the Raleigh City Farm for their “Pay-What-you-Can” Farmstand at 4-7PM! — see up to date harvest info on their Instagram.

Thursday - 11th

• Jazz in the Square is back again! This week with Enloe Jazz Ambassadors + Juno Hill, starts at 6PM over in Moore Square! Food, wine, and beer on site — bring a blanket!

• Latin Dance Social @ La Casa Restaurant with lessons starting at 7PM and free dancing from 8-11PM — $10 at the door includes lesson and social dancing, info here.

• Come out to Rebus Works for Open Mic Night, featuring local acts and open to comedy, poetry, music, and more — sign ups start at 5PM.

Friday - 12th

• It’s the second to last open garden day of the year! Juniper Level is open this weekend for their Fall hours — see the full garden map and dates/times here.

• El Paso comes to WakeMed Soccer Park to play the FC, starts at 7PM — tickets here.

• Monthly Movie night at Moore Square returns, this time with E.T. on the big screen! Get there at 5 to see the food trucks, market, and music — movie starts at 7:30PM.

Saturday - 13th

• Video Games Live is back! Featuring the NC Symphony, NCSU Choirs, & more as they play music from all your favorite video game soundtracks (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Mass Effect, Castlevania, & Halo, to name a few) — show info here.

• The Courage also play this weekend, starting at 12:30PM for a lovely afternoon game — check out seating and tickets here as well as they look to get into playoff spots.

• The End of Summer Darty is here! Food trucks, live music, cider releases and more. Kicks off at noon over at East Bower Cider:

• If you get there a bit early, you can also check out the Midtown Farmers Market, across the street in North Hills Commons — starts bright and early from 8AM-12PM.

• The Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo takes place from 12-6PM this Saturday over on Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh — stop by for some local bites.

• Running through December, the RIW Market comes out every 2nd Saturday of the month from 11AM-4PM with a variety of local vendors, music, and food — details.

Sunday - 14th

• One of the more unique events I have seen in a while takes place at 2PM over at Chapel of Bones! Rune Study for a FREE hands on lesson about Elder Futhark, the oldest form of the runic alphabet used in the 2nd to 8th centuries by Germanic and Scandinavian peoples — details on this cool offering here.

• Every wanted a mounted staghorn fern? Well Cooperline Plant Co. has a DIY class where you can make your own and take it home here — check it out.

• The Underground Market at Midtown Park returns, 50+ vendors, 11AM — info.

• Every second Sunday, head to Eliza Pool Park for the Raleigh Really Really Free Market, where you “bring what you can, take what you need” — from 11AM-1PM, details.

Monday - 15th

• Cosmic Chuckles, every week in the backroom of Flying Saucer — amateur laughs here.

Tuesday - 16th

• Learn the traditional Appalachian art of crafting a functional broom, the folk heritage kinda way over at Rebus Works — drink of choice included in the craft session.

• Classes just started back up at NCSU and I’ve seen quite a few ncsu emails coming through, just a reminder that you can rent some pretty affordable outdoor rec gear from the Equipment Center on campus — canoes, coolers, sleeping bags, bikes, etc.

Openings, Builds, & Hours

• The Raleigh Market at the Fairgrounds is closing temporarily to undergo renovations, if you’ve been meaning to make it over you have 4 weekends left before the State Fair, otherwise they don’t plan to reopen until May 1st next year — more info here.

• JP’s Pastry Bakery, now open in Midtown is a 100% Gluten Free Bakery (the only certified one in Raleigh) and features dairy-free and vegan options to boot — video here.

Sports News

• NCSU 🏈 had a nice win over Virginia at Carter-Finley this past weekend, winning 35-31, leaving them 2-0 on the season so far. Next game vs Wake Forest on Thursday.

• Icepack Hockey Club won 2-1 over the Bulldogs this weekend as well with an OT winner, we’ll be covering Canes hockey soon too.
