New Partners, Giant Robots, & Spring Festivals - Apr. 25th

Can you think of a better weekend? Brews, Canes Hockey, Art Festivals, and so much more. You don't want to miss this one!

Happy Friday! And what a doozy it is, there’s so much going on, I truly don’t think I even got at all (but man, did I try). Let’s hop straight into it, we’ve got some ground to cover.

If you know, you know.

• Brewgaloo starts today! We’ve mentioned it all week, but the event starts at 6PM today and 12PM tomorrow (be mindful of possible rain) — more info & tickets here.

• Tobacco Road Harley Davidson is hosting their Spring Block Party tomorrow, with live music, FREE hotdogs & hamburgers, and supposedly even a strongman competition? — Learn more here at their website!

• The NCMA is hosting the NC Indigenous Artist Festival tomorrow at 10am. This event highlights traditional dance, jewelry, art & more from native artists — info here.

• A FREE community celebration for the SECU Beacon Site, home of Southeast YMCA, Raleigh Promise, an Elementary School & more, will celebrate Saturday at 11am with food trucks, a job fair, music, and a vendor mall — info for the even here.

• The Raleigh City Farm is hosting its 14th B(Earth)day celebration tomorrow! Partnered with A Place at the Table, there will be farm sourced food, wine, music & more.

• Mala Pata and Fiction Kitchen, neighbors? That’s right, the new Mexican restaurant and the former downtown vegan restaurant are sharing the same building now over at Gateway Plaza, near Capital Blvd -— more on the move here.

• A women’s maker pop-up market, is also happening Saturday. GRL MARKET, is hosting an event from 12-3PM at Transfer Co Food Hall — see more here.

• Are you into grown adults dressed up like robots and brawling it out? If so, the Giant Robot Fight Club might be for you, Sunday at 4PM over at Tap Yard, info below.

• Developers are still fighting rezoning and local push back for a mixed used development near Glenwood South, pushing for it to be 30 stories and only a donation to the affordable housing fund instead of actually building affordable units — see more on the progress here.

• Oh by the way, it’s Finals week at NCSU, if you notice a lot more studying downtown or some graduation attire (though it may be a tad early) that would be why!

Exciting news! This weekend, we’ve partnered with local sponsor, ENC Explorer to bring some love to the Greenville & Eastern NC community.

If you’re heading out this weekend for the sunshine, check out the Farmville Dogwood Festival! A 30,000 person event, running for over 35 years, with concerts and arts located in their Azalea and Dogwood lined common areas.

The ramblings of your author, apologies in advance.

Wow! I told you it was a lot.

Friday is ALWAYS the busiest day for writing these (believe it or not, it takes nearly twice as long to write this one as the Monday editions). In fact, I had to cut stuff out so that the email was small enough to still send. Crazy right?

Anyway, I’m gonna go cool off with a nice drink to start my weekend right.

And thanks to ENC for helping sponsor this issue, as always I will label sponsors and try to keep things focused on NC and our local community when writing these newsletters.

See you all on Monday, cheers (and go Canes)!
