🌀 Hurricane Season, Barkitecture, & Spooky Events - October 8th

Good Morning & Happy Wednesday!

We’ve been growing a ton lately so I’ve consolidated our links to a single page. Find that down at the bottom of the newsletter going forward.

Also, I noticed there had been some confusion with the cost of some of our core items, so wanted to clear that up ASAP:

• Discount Cards are $5 as a standalone item.

• Memberships are $5/mo + they come with a card as a perk on signup. Simple!

Anyway, let’s get into the first full week of October as the fall weather picks up!

— Wednesday 8th —

• Oak City Run Club in North Hills has a Glow Run 5k taking place at The Bomb Bar in Raleigh at 6:30PM — check out other upcoming events here.

• The event officially started on Monday but the bulk of it takes places through the week for the SAS 2025 Golf Championship at Prestonwood Country Club — event info.

— Thursday 9th —

• Unfortunately un-affiliated (for now 👀 ) but ShopLocalRaleigh is throwing the “Raleighwood” Movie Schedule over the course of the month — check it out below:

• NCMA After Hours, a fall themed late night at the museum celebrates NC artists with a tour, live music, and food and drink specials — running from 5-9PM.

• As mentioned in the monthly, the NC Symphony returns with Beethoven — details.

• The New Jersey Devils play the Carolina Hurricanes in the home season opener as hockey season officially gets underway — starts at 7:30PM, details below:

• FREE Gussie’s Wings + Thursday Night Football, it all starts 8PM with an order of a cold beer over at Wolfe & Porter — good vibes here.

• Catch Halloweentown over in Fenton Square (near Paragon Theaters) for their Spooky Movie night at 7PM — more info here.

— Friday 10th —

• The CoR Museum + Moore Square, present an immersive living history experience Friday night from 4-7PM. Local actors will tell story by candlelight abut experiences and contributions in Raleigh’s history — with snacks, drinks, and more!

• Live Music, Cider Tastings, on 10/10 means you know it’s gonna be a 10 outta 10 time — check out the flyer below and some tastings from 6-7PM:

• Incendiary Brewing Taproom downtown has a 2000’s emo/punk vinyl night from 8-11PM, so bring those checkered vans and studded jackets — when I was, a young boy.

• NCFC vs Phoenix Rising FC, this Friday from 7-9PM at WakeMed Soccer Park — info.

— Saturday 11th —

• Triangle Native American Society + Dix Park Conservancy host of a day of competitive dancing, music, and more with the Inter-Tribal Pow Wow that celebrates and showcases indigenous communities living in North Carolina — 11:30 to 6:30PM at Dix Park.

• The NC Courage take Washington Spirit at 7:30PM over at WakeMed Soccer Park — go cheer them on as they fight for the last playoff spots.

• The DIY Punk Rock Flea Market takes place all weekend from 12-5PM each day with FREE admission and over 40 vendors — check it out over near the Boylan Bridge area.

— Sunday 12th —

• Haunted Hartwell is back on Sunday from 5-8PM! Benefiting the LGBT Center of Raleigh this event will have Halloween activities for the whole family, a spooky drag show, live music, face painting and more — spooky market info.

• Birdie’s on Fayetteville St is celebrating One Year with a Backyard Bash! Check out live music, specialty burgers, with a picnic theme from 11-7PM — birthday bash details.

• The MAKRS Society + Oak City Music Collective are back with the Raleigh Underground Market (and concert series) — check out this months details here.

— Monday 13th —

• From 7-9PM join Dr. Crosbie, a Professor of English at NCSU for a talk on Shakespeare and the Ethics of Community over at Wolfe & Porter — details for thy consumption.

— Raleighwood Updates —

• This one is exciting, we’ve launched a Job Board! It will have a few postings around town that I have personally vetted (aka, jobs that look legit) and it supports the ability to start posting to this community — check it out here if you’re in the market.

• The op-ed comes out this Friday, this time I chose the topic of “Raleigh as a 15 Minute City” (to try my chops as a city planner), but I hope to get some input on the next one to better cater to what everyone would be interested in a deep dive on.

• Call for Vendors! The Small Business Saturday makers market + tree sale for the Hartwell is looking for vendors on 11/29 from 12-4PM — learn more here.

• It looks like Capulet Cocktail Club is opening in The Exchange in Midtown Raleigh, see the first few posts and videos of the location and it’s drinks here with a bit more info on it since the original announcement a few weeks ago — more info.
