We're getting started on our Fall themes but in the meantime, check out a weekend loaded with markets and events, and some pretty cool shows this week.

• All month of August long, join the Raleigh Wine Shop and the DTR Independent Shop Collective, for their Passport Giveaway where you earn stamps by shopping local with a chance to win prizes at the end of the month — details here.

• Looking for a place to watch the Premier League? Check out the Hibernian locations on Glenwood or Falls of Neuse for all the games! Opening round of EPL starts August 15th.
• Join the Hartwell on August 16th for a Teachers Benefit Supply Drive from 12-3PM, drop off donations, grab a burger with Brokedown Burger Guys, Ice Cream with Family Scoop, and stay for a while with drinks and music — details on the drive, flyer:

• A unique combo of events on the 20th, Magic & Wine! Second Empire hosts this event starting at 5:30PM with magician Shaun Jay — details here, call for reservations.

Show of The Week — Pine1Nine @ Cannonball Music Hall on August 8th, 7-11PM
Pine1Nine is a Raleigh based 5-piece americana jam band that plays originals and cover songs at one of Raleigh’s newest music venues, Cannonball Music Hall!

• Ever wanted to ask a paleontologist a question while their onsite? Tune in at 12PM with the Natural Science Museum online or at the Daily Planet to ask a crew questions, live at an active fossil quarry — info on the event here!
• A big country rock lineup at Red Hat with Blackberry Smoke, Mike Campbell, The Dirty Knobs, and Shannon McNally takes stage at 6PM — tickets and info here.

• The Triangle Land Conservancy joins the Wake Audubon Society for a FREE guided, birding tour at Williamson Preserve! Join this 2 mile stroll by registering — birds here.
• Wake County Speedway events only run through mid September, so if you’re trying to check out a race, do it soon. This week it’s Friday, gates open at 6PM — race info here.
• If you’ve never been (I am sure you’ve seen the neon sign) but Longleaf Lounge has stand-up comedy at 9PM, no cover charge + cocktails on the patio. Perfect chance to see what this lovely lounge has to offer — info here!

• The City of Raleigh Museum (COR) hosts a reuse and recycle scrap exchange from 11-2PM, this event is family friendly and intended for ages 3-14 — more here.
• Is your bike having issues? Oak City Cares can help! Their FREE Bike Repair event runs from 1-3PM, located at 1430 S Wilmington Street — more info and future events.
• IT’S HERE! From 5-10PM enjoy the Bizarre Bazaar in front of Neptunes, Le Dive, & Kings, check out the updated music lineup here:

• Barks & Brew, a PIP’s sponsored adoption event takes place Saturday, 3-5PM, at Incendiary Brewing on Morgan Street (located between the big buildings) — pups here.

• Project Sunday Funday, a new monthly series from Milkbar, aimed at giving back to the community takes place from 1-5PM. This Sunday, they are collecting school supplies and a percentage of sales goes directly to the YMCA — details here, flyer below:

• Every Monday at 7PM, Flying Saucer hosts Cosmic Chuckles! This is a standup comedy night for local comedians trying out new material — more laughs here.

— Tuesday 12th —
• It’s a tad pricier than we tend to post but the class seems well balanced, 1.5 hours of beginner lessons for Modern Calligraphy at PRESS Coffee, from 7-8:30PM! Includes two nibs, ink pot, letter guides, tracing paper, and pen holder — details here.
• NC Conservation is teaming up with Crank Arm Raleigh for Environmental Trivia! This trivia will cover NC’s wild places, native critters, and challenges facing the state. Check out the post below and stay tuned on their page for more info:

Jobs & Internships
• Are you a college student who enjoys hockey? The Ice Pack is still looking for writers, game day volunteers, graphic designers, photographers, and more for the 25/26 season.
Openings & Builds
• Botiwalla a restaurant that aims to celebrate late-night Indian street food, is set to open in Spring 2026, they already have locations in Charlotte, Asheville, and Atlanta — read more about this and the latest local foodie news over at Triangle Food Blog.
• The first ever standalone Maeve store is opening in the former Coastal Urge space at the Village District. This is a sister store of Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, and more.
City Council & Civics
• Raleigh Tool Share, a local gov effort to provide free yard tool rentals to Raleigh Citizens has begun, their equipment is fairly limited but if the program gets used, I am sure they will aim to expand it — get your free mower rental here.
